Dr. Mehmet YAKUT 
  He was born in Izmit, Turkey in 1966. He received B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees from Yildiz Technical University (Department of Electronics & Communications Engineering) in 1987 and 1992 respectively. He holds a Ph.D. degree from Kocaeli University (Department of Electronics & Communications Engineering). He was with the Signal and Image Processing Lab. of University of Texas Dallas Johnsson School of Engineering between 2008-2009. His research interests and projects include:
  • Image and video processing based sensor technologies and applications,
  • Image and video compression (especially on fast algorithms for energy efficiency of mobile video devices),
  • Vector quantization based video coding and motion compensation,
  • Fast image/scene retrieval from compressed image database or compressed video,
  • Wireless sensor networks (board level design and embedded software),
  • Remotely operated underwater vehicle (ROV) design and control,
  • Mobile robots (board level system design and control strategies),
  • Embedded system design and applications and fuel cell long dive UUAV.
